The InnerCity Mission for Children recently had a major Food Distribution event, benefitting those in our Family and Orphanage Support Programs.
Realizing that Hunger drives indigent children to the streets in a desperate need for survival, thereby exposing them to grave danger and an uncertain future; The InnerCity Mission Family Support Program is designed to help poor families in a bid to prevent their children from being forced to life on the street. We also adopt orphanages and commit to the regular provision of essential food supplies, to ensure the safety of otherwise vulnerable orphaned kids.
Thirty (30) orphanages and thirty-seven (37)families benefitted from the food distribution event, representing a total of over one thousand and sixty eight (1068) children. There was more than enough food in The Food Bank to go round, thanks to our Food Bank Partners. An assortment of food items – Bags of rice, beans, yam tubers, oil, cartons of noodles, spices and provisions – was made available to beneficiaries; and each family/orphanage received food portions proportional to the number of kids they have/cater for.
An amazing team of volunteers made up of partners from various Christ Embassy churches joined the staff of The InnerCity Mission to package the food and attend to beneficiaries. The event was marked by excellence from start to finish and it was a very beautiful experience for the beneficiaries themselves; they were treated every bit like royalty and they all were most grateful.
